Dr. Fozia Khan

Dr. Fozia Khan, MD, FACP

Dr. Fozia Khan is a board-certified internal medicine physician with over 25 years of clinical experience. She earned her medical degree from Nishtar Medical College in Pakistan and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University at Buffalo. In addition to her board certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Khan holds specialized certification in Obesity Medicine.

As a dedicated primary care provider, Dr. Khan is passionate about managing complex and chronic medical conditions. She has a special interest in diabetes care, weight management, and women’s health, with a strong emphasis on preventive medicine. Dr. Khan is deeply committed to serving the community, particularly underserved populations in the Triad area. She also actively participates in local and international medical relief efforts, reflecting her dedication to compassionate, accessible care.

Outside of her medical practice, Dr. Khan enjoys cooking and staying physically active. She lives in Alamance County with her husband, their three children, and four beloved cats.

Dr. Saadat Khan, MD, FCCP

Dr. Saadat Khan, MD, FCCP

Dr. Saadat Khan is a board-certified physician specializing in Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine, with extensive experience in both inpatient and outpatient care. His clinical focus includes the diagnosis and management of chronic lung diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). He also provides specialized care in long-term acute care facilities and rehabilitation hospitals.

Dr. Khan earned his medical degree from Nishtar Medical College in Pakistan. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Albany Medical College, followed by a fellowship in Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, Critical Care Medicine, and Sleep Medicine. Dr. Khan is committed to delivering patient-centered, evidence-based care that improves quality of life and long-term outcomes for individuals with respiratory and sleep-related conditions.

Lauren McDonough, PA-C

Lauren McDonough, PA-C

Lauren McDonough is a certified Physician Associate (PA-C). She graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and spent several years working as a rehab technician in a trauma center, gaining hands-on clinical hours. There, she was able to work with patients of all ages and in every unit of the hospital, which gave her a diverse experience. She then went on to earn both a Master of Physician Assistant Medicine in 2021 and a Doctorate of Medical Sciences in 2022 from The University of Lynchburg.

Lauren joined Nova Medical Associates in January 2022. She enjoys working in a variety of medical areas and therefore chose to practice in general medicine, where she can assist patients in multiple areas. A few examples include preventative health, hypertension, diabetes, and obstructive sleep apnea.

Lauren is happily married, and she and her husband love spoiling their puppy. They rescued her in 2023 when she was just 8 weeks old and have loved every minute since. Lauren enjoy spending time with family and friends, as well as being outside playing or watching sports when able.

Sarah Terrell, PA-C

Sarah Terrell, PA-C

Sarah Terrell has 30 years of practice experience as a Physician Assistant. Sarah is originally from New York. She obtained her Master of Medical Science from Emory University in 1994 and currently practices at Feeling Great Sleep Lab.

Sarah loves helping patients and getting to the root of their symptoms. She went into medicine after working as a medical social worker and feeling that she could do more for her patients if she became a provider. She loves it when her patients tell her that they understand their condition better than they ever had in the past.

Sarah enjoys hiking, walking, snowshoeing, and participating in half marathons. She lives in the Burlington area with her husband, Tom.

Alyssa Abernathy, FNP-C

Alyssa Abernathy, FNP-C

Alyssa Abernathy is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She graduated from Danville Regional Medical Center School of Healthcare Professionals in 2010 with an RN Diploma. She earned a BSN in 2016 from Averett University. Alyssa completed her Master of Science in nursing with an FNP specialty in 2021 from UNCW.

Alyssa has 12 years of experience as a registered nurse before her certification as an FNP. Her nursing experience is diverse, including psychiatry, intensive care, cardiology, burns, and wound care, among others.

Alyssa has a passion for endocrinology and diabetes management. The foundation of her practice is holistic, patient-centered care and preventive medicine.

Alyssa is married to her husband, Jeremy, and they have 2 children and 4 dogs. Her hobbies are reading mystery/thriller novels, biking, and building and collecting LEGO sets.
